FC Zurich’s all-conquering women’s team have challenged FC Barcelona to a match via video.
The female Swiss team have played 22 matches and won all of them, scoring an average of 5.7 goals per game in the process. Their overall goal difference record is 125:9.Unbeaten for close to 2000 minutes, the girls have decided to question the masculinity of the Barca boys, asking if they’ve got the ball to take up the unusual challenge. In their promo video, Zurich offer May 25th as a possible showdown date at the Nou Camp. It’s free for Tito Vilanova’s side, as they failed to make the Champions League final – which takes place on the same evening.
And, if you were in any doubt about how serious the women are, their video shows them dragging a tractor across a pitch, some military style preparation and a little bit of target practice at Lionel Messi’s face.

Probably when Messi was running past me in that home game! (laugh) No, I actually don’t know. I’ve been so lucky throughout my career, I just feel that the fact that the clubs I’ve played for and the players I’ve played with, won the trophies that I’ve won… playing in the MLS last year, winning the championship there, and then coming to PSG and winning the French League, I think it’s a good way to go out.

R: I am not surprised does not stope to amaze me. He was different things, saw that he would be important, but not at that level. I remember when we played together in the Junior A, did great things. He was a year younger, had problems when he came up and began to solve problems alone. At Barcelona C, in the first game we played against Gramanet, Leo scored a hat-trick.
We had to change Ronaldinho for Messi and the change was very important. Messi in my opinion is the best player in history; he’s modest, humble and he has a great personality as well. Immediately he was aware that he had to be the leader on the pitch and he had a very good relationship with Xavi , Iniesta, Pique, Puyol, Valdes, Busquets and all the players that came from our youth set-up. At the same time, I went to Ronaldinho’s house to announce to him that it was the end. We were crying at that time because I very much respect this player because he gave us everything, but we had to replace the leaders. Then I went to Messi’s house to explain to him that he had to be the leader of the team on the pitch. It was not easy to change Ronaldinho for Messi but we had to do it. The model worked but we had to replace the leaders. On the bench we replaced Rijkaard with Guardiola and in the team we had to replace Ronaldinho with the great players that are Messi, Xavi, iniesta, Puyol, Victor and all of them.
